Testimonials
These are things that kind clients have said about me, and their experiences of working with me and their dogs. However, I would like to make clear that these comments are also a testament to the work and dedication showed by these owners towards their dogs, as I alone cannot change your dog's behaviour. I can help you to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary, and assist you in training your dog, but ultimately the success lies in your commitment to your dog and helping him to learn to be the dog you want.
Without your help we never would have gone back to agility... just been away for a long weekend.. Mallone hates posing for pictures but he did so well and I am Sooo very proud he had to this once...

(Please note, I worked with Cath and Mallone for his reactivity/aggression towards other dogs in competition and group training - not to improve his agility. I am not a competitive agility trainer).
We took on Oscar last summer, a young rescue dog aged two, who’d already had two homes and two short spells in rescue. The terrible twos indeed! He was very a very worried little dog and reacted by nipping when he got anxious. The vet recommended we got some help, and Theresa’s advice and support has made such a difference for all of us. Oscar still gets a bit anxious on occasions, but we now have much more confidence and know how to deal with the sorts of situations we sometimes find ourselves in. We are so happy, thanks to Theresa, and Earl, our other older dog, has a great friend and playmate.

In a impetuous moment we took on 2 rescue dogs at the same time. The dogs had not met before and we knew nothing about them. I still ask myself was this impetuous or just plain stupid! One of the dogs has clearly been subject to abusive and unkind handling and her relationship with the other dog was making his and our lives miserable and fraught. At different times we had thought that one or the other would have to be 'put down' either because of the impact of their relationship or their sheep chasing tendencies. It was by chance that we learnt about Theresa and with her help and guidance we have managed to improve all of our lives beyond recognition. I write this as the dogs are playing together at my feet: something I never thought would happen. We will be eternally grateful to Theresa for her expertise, generosity and unstinting support in enabling us to make unbelievable progress.

We took Busby our beagle pup to Theresa’s classes and we were quite nervous having read that beagles are notoriously hard to train! However we needn’t have worried as she taught all of us, husband, 3 children & I, how to understand the mindset of our new four-legged family member which helped enormously. It is rather that the owner needs training, perhaps more so than the dog! Her knowledge, patience & commitment know no bounds and we found her lessons more than generous as we often ran over due to discussion or a little extra one-to-one to ensure we got it right. Her setting is superb with acres of space for outdoor recall training and the safety of an enclosed area for the not so attentive dog. She has a barn for the more than frequent wet days which is much better than a shiny village hall floor. Aside from this the views are stunning!
We also know that we can count on Theresa should we ever need further advice in the future. A lovely lady.

Through participating in Theresa’s excellent Brain Training sessions, Brodie our 18 month old Bearded Collie has learned a great deal of self-control and lots of fun games, tricks and moves. As owners we have learned to be much more calm in our approach and have gained a much greater understanding of how a dog’s mind ticks and it is a joy to see him learn something new. The session flies by and we try hard to practice the moves at home to show off some progress the following week! We also benefitted hugely from a 1:1 session with Theresa as Brodie wanted to chase after sheep and we are so pleased to now take him through a field of sheep off the lead with him by our side after following her simple guidelines.
Everything is FUN for the dog and fun for owners too – we’ve had a lot of laughs! Thank you Theresa.

I took my Springer Pup, Saffy, to Theresa's puppy training classes when she was 4 months old. The classes are small, friendly and informal. The small class size is great as it allows Theresa to spend time with each dog if needed, (and Saffy and I needed it!). Theresa was invaluable in helping solve some niggling house training problems, and showing us how to deal with other issues.
Most importantly, Saffy adored going, as soon as we turned off the main road to the farm she became happy and excited, she definitely knew where we were going!

I first met Tess through our shared interest in horses but it soon became apparent what a brilliant dog trainer she was. I have had dogs all my life so thought I was pretty dog savvy until I started to talk to Tess. Whilst I wasn't ever harsh with my dogs I did rely on traditional techniques to train. Once I started to explore what Tess was teaching, using food based rewards lots of things changed for me and my dogs with them became more confident and happy. Learning new techniques can be difficult but Tess was always there to give great advice and support whenever I needed it. If one thing wasn't working she would come up with a new plan. She never made me feel stupid or guilty for asking questions. She is extremely approachable and her depth of knowledge is second to none. The passion and kindness she has for dogs shines through and I feel so lucky that I have been able to learn from her. The only negative I can say about Tess is that she refuses to up sticks from Wales and move to Cheshire , where I could train with her every day .

I realised I was in trouble when I brought home a pair of 2yr old german shepherd siblings to discover they were cat killers, horse chasers, totally untrained on the lead, couldn't be left without chewing things up and several other issues! Particularly difficult when we have 5 cats, 23 horses, sheep etc and a busy life. Not the wisest move to have taken two on together but I was still distraught at the recent loss of my wonderful GSD to cancer after 8 fabulous years together and I figured it would take 2 to fill the gap left by him.
So, feeling well out of my depth I contacted Theresa and she gave me step by step advice on how to handle every aspect of training all using reward based methods. Much of her advice is so simple I slap myself for not thinking of it but thats the beauty of her methods-they *are* simple when you are as brilliant at thinking things through the way Theresa can. The most amazing thing was how well both dogs responded to the cat training, I had only ever previously seen punishment based methods, and none have ever worked as powerfully as the approach Theresa suggested.
We are several months on now and I have 2 well behaved dogs who instead of going crazy now look quietly at me when they see a cat running, curl up together on their bed with them and let them share their food. They look at me again when they see a horse and sit quietly when asked with a horse right by them. They walk to heel on and off lead and stand quietly to be hosed down instead of manically trying to eat the hose. As for chewing, they haven't chewed anything other than their own chew toys for months.
Theresa is truly amazing and the best thing is that all her training is pleasurable for the dogs so you can feel good whilst you train and you end up with happy dogs too. I have never met anybody like her, she really does have an answer for everything and her answers *work* too. Can't thank you enough, Theresa .

Connor is a 2 year old Collie/Boxer rescue dog. We attended a beginners course with Theresa where it became apparant that Connor had a big (huge) fear of people, Theresa came for a home visit and observed Connor, the advice and positive training methods that she recommended have given us the confidence, tools and understanding to help Connor. We have since been to follow up training and brain training classes which were both very informative and fun.
Connor is now a very different dog with a very different owner! I thoroughly recommend Theresa's training methods and can honestly say that Connor is still with our family because of her knowedge, understanding and patience. Thank you.

We first met Theresa when we took our 5 month old springador pup, Ben, to puppy training classes. We hadn’t any idea what to expect, knowing what a boisterous, loveable rogue Ben was, but nothing fazed Theresa, despite Ben’s enthusiastic approach to learning, which consisted of wanting to play with all the other dogs in the class and to distract them from the business in hand! Theresa has a very individual approach to each dog in her class, and that includes the owners, for whom she is an invaluable and patient resource. We subsequently took Ben to brain training classes, where he continued to disrupt the proceedings in his own inimitable style, so we then had several one to one sessions with Theresa which were brilliant, and extremely helpful. Ben is now 21 months old, and he is a much loved, mostly well behaved dog who doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body. We know that Theresa is always available should we need her, and we are immensely grateful to her for all the help, advice and support which she has given us – and Ben of course!

We have had such fun at Theresa's brain training and agility class. Not only did Betty absolutely love it, but we also enjoyed the sessions too! Having a Welsh Terrier can be a challenge sometimes due to their stubborn and independent nature, but following training we now understand her a lot more, have more control and have overcome a number of our challenges such as livestock and cyclists. The agility element was also a huge hit, and will be back to improve our seesaw skills!
Pete, Abi & Betty Evans, the Welsh Terrier
We have taken Lottie, our cockerpoo, to both puppy training and subsequently, agility classes run by Theresa. She demonstrates great enthusiasm and considerable understanding of why dogs behave as they do and how to correct unwanted behavioural traits. We have benefitted tremendously from her patience and knowledge which has resulted in our Lottie developing into a generally very well behaved family pet. The agility classes are lots of fun for both human and canine participants. Lottie loves the exercise and particularly the rewarding treats.

Muttley is a collie/lurcher rescue dog. When we first got him he chased sheep. Built for speed, he would be out of earshot in seconds, and I felt completely helpless in calling him back. I take him running with me and so prefer to have him under control rather than on the lead. Theresa explained how to deal with Muttley, how to distract his attention away from the sheep and how to make sure he listened when I called. I put into practice everything Theresa suggested, and in just a few weeks there was an amazing transformation in his behaviour. I now feel confident taking a well-behaved Muttley off the lead across the Common and through fields wherever there are sheep.

Our dog Peggy was 8 months old when we first approached Theresa. We had been having problems with her general control and not having had a dog from a young age before were at a loss what to do. Theresa’s understanding of the situation and her teaching us how to teach Peggy was invaluable.
Theresa is extremely knowledgeable. She is patient with owners and dedicated to helping them enjoy their dogs. I find myself explaining to others how a dogs mind works! We have no hesitation in recommending Theresa to anyone wishing to get the very best from their dog. Paul and Jacqui Daniell with Peggy the Labrador x Huntaway
When we first had Glen two and a half years ago, we had no idea he had so many issues. Theresa has given us the tools to help deal with many of these problems. Glen's recall is now approximately 95%, before Theresa’s help it was only around 15%! I now understand Glen’s body language so much more since training with Theresa, this has helped so much into making Glen a much happier and relaxed dog, thus making us much happier owners!

I have a 18 month old dalmatian and have been taking him to dog training with Theresa since he was 6 months old. I am so impressed with her method of training. Theresa is very patient and not only gives you tasks to take home and try out with your dog but also explains the reasoning behind the exercises. There really is method in the madness.
I have applied her method to my mad dalmatian and if he can become better behaved I'm sure any dog would benefit from some form of training with Theresa.
Her prices are reasonable and she is very friendly and approachable.
Debbie James with Dexter, the Dalmatian
I recommend Theresa to lots of people and only wish I had discovered her sooner in our dog ownership - I was under the misunderstanding that a puppy under one is 'untrainable' (lots of people said this to me).
Our spaniel labrador cross was a bit frisky with sheep (to say the least) and we had some real recall issues. A ten week beginners course was sufficient to get us on track and we (as a family - I like the fact that Theresa encourages group attendance) turned a corner in our canine dynamic. Basically Theresa saved Olive's bacon with regards to remaining with us and she also transferred her sense of enpowerment sufficient enough for me to realise our pet's strengths.
She offers lots more than the 2 hours or so a week and the notes and recommended reading are all really useful. I will definitely be back for more.

Classes were structured to suit each dog & handler. Clear instructions, with the emphasis on the handler to understand how to train their own dog to suit their own requirements. Good contact between classes if needed.

My sheepdog is wonderful with people and children but can be unpredictable with other dogs. Theresa has a wonderful calming influence on dog and owner alike and during our one to one sessions has introduced good common-sense strategies for me to use with Meg when approaching other dogs. These structured sessions take place in a safe environment usually outside which is non-threatening for Meg and gives her the space she needs to assess a 'stranger' dog without any confrontation. Theresa has highlighted ways in which my behaviour needs to change to give Meg the direction and confidence she needs and I thoroughly recommend Theresa's techniques to anyone experiencing stress or anxiety over their dog's behaviour. Her creed is simple - lets help our dogs to BE dogs!

Theresa has taught me how to get the very best from my puppy, Rosie-lou and enjoy a fabulous relationship with her. This has been done through being taught how to observe her body language, how to use clicker training, hand and verbal signals. The individual lessons that started us off were very valuable and we were able to join a small class of dogs and owners with similar abilities which helped to socialise her with other dogs and situations. I feel extremely confident in all situations with Rosie-lou all thanks to Theresa.
